  • Marinated with vinegar and spices
  • Hand-packed

Plump orange mussels from the coast of Galicia are a favorite in tapas bars and restaurants across Spain. Conservas de Cambados captures the fresh taste and tenderness of just-cooked mussels in their canned gourmet mejillones.

Freshly harvested mussels are lightly fried in olive oil and covered with a vinegar and paprika marinade that adds a little zing to their flavor. Serve as a tapa with toast or crackers.

In Galicia, mussels are suspended from giant rafts in the cool, nutrient rich water of the Rias – tidal rivers famous for their bountiful seafood. Only the finest mussels are selected to be prepared by Conservas de Cambados, and each tin is packed by hand.

The seas off the coast of Galicia in Northwest Spain are cool and rich in nutrients, making them an incredible fishing ground. Conservas de Cambados is located close to one of Spain’s largest Rías (estuaries), known as the 'Ría de Arousa'. Their facilities are just a few miles from where the seafood is harvested, so they are able to use the freshest fish, squid and shellfish available.

"Highly disappointed! Firstly, picture is deceiving , the portion is super small , second the escabeche was average at best , mussels were grainy . Overall , not recommended. "

"The escabeche sauce tastes really good, it is not acidic and it is possible to differentiate the spices used. The mussels are great! Really tasty and will buy them again!"

"I very much wanted to enjoy these, but the only outstanding flavor I picked up on was a strong vinegary flavor, like a potent pickling brine, which I actually choked up into my sinuses in my first bite (I was not familiar with escabeche sauce and had actually popped these open expecting a galician-similar sauce, so the brine just took me by surprise). the quality of the mussels was excellent (they were very plump and meaty), but I do not think they are complemented at all by this choice in cooking/packing liquid. this is the only Conservas de Cambados product I would not repeat. I am rating it 3 stars for the excellent quality of the mussels, which I was very impressed with. "
