Created by Bombons Cudié, an artisan chocolatier in Catalonia, these chocolate and coffee covered almonds are an exquisite treat to savor on their own by the handful or with a mug of coffee or hot chocolate.
These chocolates start with toasted and caramelized Marcona almonds. Each crunchy almond is then coated in rich 70% cacao dark chocolate, coffee flavored praline and rolled in cocoa powder.
In 1946, Josep Cudié, a master chocolate maker in the town of Vilafranca del Penedès, created a unique chocolate treat when he mixed caramelized Marcona almonds with white chocolate praline and cocoa powder. Originally named 'cro-crem' almonds, they were immediately popular. Josep's chocolate shop was located in a historic building named 'Cal Catani' and his popular 'cro-crem' almonds quickly became known as 'Catànies'.
For three generations, Cudié chocolates have been handmade with a combination of Marcona almonds and chocolate praline. Their beloved secret praline recipe has been passed from generation to generation. A family-run company, Bombons Cudié insists on using only the very best gourmet chocolate and the finest quality ingredients available.

"These things are unreal. Two after dinner—maybe lunch—are as good as a crème brûlée or a sliver of triple chocolate cake. I thought it was me but my wife had three [hmm] last nite and gave a similar howl. Worth a try. A wine person might say they have finish. I like wine but I'll just say these are damn good."
