Mantecados Christmas cookies have been enjoyed in Spain for centuries. These crumbly sweet cookies are perfect with coffee or tea. We are often asked what the traditional flavor of Christmas is in Spain, and mantecados, along with turrón candy, are an integral way to celebrate in Spanish style.
These mantecados are made using extra virgin olive oil, flour, cinnamon, sugar, and sesame seeds. The result is a sweet, crumbly treat, a rich Spanish tradition you can enjoy in your home.
Aromas de Medina is a family company that took their family recipes, passed on down the generations, and decided to share them with the world. They still make these Christmas treats by hand and pack them one by one in the package that you will receive.
Medina Sidonia, where they are located, is an ancient city in the province of Cádiz - some say it is the oldest city in Europe, founded by the Phoenicians thousands of years ago.

"When you have childhood memories of a food, there is just no way to rate them fairly because they can never be exactly like you remember. But, I'm giving it 5 stars because they are good and almost like my childhood memories. What's different? 1) They aren't made with lard, 2) They aren't made with almond flour, 3) You can't mush the to powder and them pinch them back together as easily because they aren't as crumbly. But, I guess, as an adult, I'm not supposed to admit that's what we did with them!"
