Experience one of the world's great cheeses! The first time we tasted this exceptional Gran Reserva Manchego, we were amazed at its complex, nutty flavor and rich, almost crumbly texture. We could taste hints of the herbs and wild grasses from the La Mancha estate where sheep roam freely. Serve this elegant cheese at room temperature with a glass of fine Spanish wine.
In 2012, Dehesa de Los Llanos Gran Reserva earned the title of World's Best Cheese at the respected World Cheese Awards. And no cheese could be more deserving. There is no secret to its immense quality, just an uncompromising dedication to strive for perfection.
In 2018, this cheese was awarded a bronze medal at the World Championship Cheese Contest.
Dehesa de Los Llanos Manchego is made only from the raw milk of pure-bred Manchega sheep that roam the vast estate of about 10,000 hectares. Unlike industrial pasteurized Manchego, Dehesa de Los Llanos only uses pure raw milk that retains the rich flavors of the land. Each wheel is cared for by hand and rubbed with extra virgin olive oil to create its signature golden rind. No artificial colors or chemicals are used in its production, just pure ingredients and time.
The Dehesa de Los Llanos estate is a land of rolling hills, dotted with cork and olive trees. Here the private herd of native sheep only eat wild forage or hay that is grown on the property. This Manchego bears the Queso Manchego Denomination of Origin seal, which guarantees its quality and authenticity.
The estate has an ancient and rich history. In the 12th century the Virgin of Los Llanos was discovered on the property. Pilgrims from across Spain began travelling to the area. In the 17th century, a large Franciscan convent was built there.
Eventually the property was purchased by the Marquis of Salamanca in the 1800s. He rebuilt the monastery, converting it into a splendid palace, and installed wells and cisterns to improve crop yield. Future generations continued to improve the estate, eventually introducing modern agricultural practices. Today the estate at Dehesa de Los Llanos produces fine wines, premium Manchego cheese, extra virgin olive oil, walnuts and aromatic plants.
Raw sheep milk, milk cultures, rennet, egg lysozyme and salt.
